HOW TO STYLE CONVERSE II

HOW TO STYLE CONVERSE II

The last couple of days have been absolutely crazy as elections dominated the news and conversations.

The long road towards elections has finally ended. There are mixed reactions all over as some people are feeling either elated (because their candidate won) or disappointed (because their candidate lost).

All done and dusted, my hope is that all those who have assumed power create a difference.

Anyway that aside, let’s get back to the swing of things. Here’s the second post on how to style the converse sneakers.

Not only do converse make outfits look trendy, but they are super-duper comfortable as well.

The first styling post went here.

And we are back!!!!!ohhhh boy!! It sure feels good to be back on this space!! Hope everyone’s having a great Friday. Thank you so much for being patient.

On today’s post I am talking about the good ol’ chuck Taylors or as we prefer to call them-converse. These shoes have been there for like forever and they are pretty much not going away anytime soon. They automatically complement every avenue of personal style from punk to prep.To prove to you just how insanely versatile they are I thought it would be fun putting together outfits showing some of the many ways in which you can style them.

So here we go with the first styling. Doesn’t this combo just look delightful?

OUT OF MY COMFORT ZONE

OUT OF MY COMFORT ZONE

Each and every day I realize that to raise my own visibility I have to get out of my comfort zone. Recently I did a street shoot-something that I always admired seeing other bloggers do but never had the courage to engage in personally.

Whether it’s  because I am extremely shy or if I am afraid of the stares from the passers-by i am not quite sure.

Thanks to my constant companion and friends (I always have them during my shoots) it went pretty well. I really, really enjoyed, much more than I thought I would. In fact, I plan on doing a lot more street shots.

The whole thing made me realize that one can lose nothing by trying. Putting oneself out there can be a scary prospect but every accomplishment starts with the decision to try.

Thanks for reading.Hope your Thursday rocks

FROM THE GYM TO THE STREET

FROM THE GYM TO THE STREET

Hello muffins. Welcome back (hug).Thank you for your prayers as I am now back on my feet.

On today’s style post I am talking about the athleisure trend which was major last year but still continues to sweep the streets. The trend which was popularized by celebrities like Rihanna, Kendall Jenner and Selena Gomez simply involves incorporating active wear/gym clothing into everyday pieces.

The athleisure style gives “the cool girl look” without putting in a lot of effort. It’s the kind of style that I’d rock over the weekends or after work as it is convenient and comfortable.

Here are a few rules of thumb just in case you are planning to rock this trend.

  1. Invest in pieces that are functional and fashionable. They make the look stylish
  2. Accessorize appropriately-Hats, belts, bags, sunglasses and even scarfs makes the outfit extra.
  3. Dress for the occasion. It’s not a trend that can be worn everywhere.

Ps.This was my first street shoot and I must say it was fun. My team and I got weird stares from the passer-byes.lol

Well they say athleisure is the new casual. Would you rock this trend? Share and let’s connect.

AFRO-CHIC

AFRO-CHIC

Mellow Monday beautiful humans!!Are you ready to tackle the new week?

Well, here is something to keep your mood lovely and smiling all through the week featuring this Ankara slit maxi skirt. What I love most about the skirt is the zippered detail on the slit.

The slit adds an extra edge to the outfit and the zippered detail makes it even more extra and versatile. On the days that I want to be modest,I could zip it up or zip it down when I want to show some leg.

BUSTIER LOVE

BUSTIER LOVE

Bustier tops were traditionally hidden under outfits or reserved for the bedroom.

But they have somehow found their way out of their and onto the runways. They have taken over the street style and come in every shade, silhouette and neckline. They are trendy, sexier and feminine and can be paired with everything from oversized white shirts to maxi skirts, pencil skirts, pants and shorts.

Getting my bustier in a floral print was a win for me because floral prints are everthing. For this look I paired mine with my black pants which  I’ve worn way more than I care to admit. The mid-rise waistline of these pants and stretchy fabric makes them ultra-flattering and perfect for wearing all day.

Fashion Tip. In the case that you are conscious of showing too much skin then you can always throw on a top to get more coverage.

Have you tried taking your bustier out of the bedroom and onto the streets, let me know in the comment section.?
