Plot summary

The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives revolves around a patriarchal home that lives in harmony until the arrival of wife number four. Her entrance stirs up strife and the three wives are hell bent on destroying her. Each character in the book is fighting for something. They all have big secrets but the fourth wife’s secret is deadly

My thoughts on the book

This novel had me hooked from page one. It was so engrossing I read it in the space of one week. Set in a lot of suspense, it makes you want to keep reading because you want to figure out the secrets. It contains natural and flowing humor even from the descriptions. It is a fascinating book as it gives an insight into a polygamous household.

So today is the 8th of August. The eagerly awaited day in our beloved Kenya.Well, before we go out and vote here is a little account of what i  have been up-to lately:

Making: porridge and sweet potatoes for breakfast. Healthy eating guys!!

Drinking:way too many bottles of  soft drinks.

Reading: I am still struggling to finish “The Monk who sold his Ferrari”. Please don’t judge me!However I have in my hands “Her Roots” which I am so excited to start on. I got it courtesy of Hali Oduor who had a giveaway on her Instagram. Thanks Girl.

Wanting: to finish writing this post so that I can go out and cast my vote.

Looking: up a plan for the weekend with B.Last weekend we were at the Forest Trail. I tried riding a bicycle for the first time. It was quite hilarious.I could swear I looked stupid!

Playing: 4 pictures 1 word with my brothers and we like it.I feel like it sharpens their minds to think deeply.

Wasting:time finding new recipes.B and I set out this new challenge for ourselves-cook something unique and unusual each week and we all have to play by the rules.

Sewing: something with the help of you tube tutorials. Not yet decided what I will be sewing but it’s really happening!

Wishing: I could do all the things that I want to do.

Enjoying: the new season of the Haves and Have nots.Who else is saddened by the fact that Candace son passed on.*sob*

Waiting: for my dad to finish breakfast so that we can go to the polling station together.

Liking: and subscribing to Amina Abdi’s  you tube channel now that i have bumped into it

Wondering: who will be our next president? Nevertheless praying for peace and sanity.

Loving: my new phone. Finally i can take decent pictures without  having to walk around with my camera.

Considering: getting a tattoo.Something that i have always wanted to do but i keep hesitating.

Hoping: to make the most of my time at home.I have four days off. Thanks to the elections.

Marveling:and secretly envying flexible people who can dance.Like these two here.

Needing: and wanting to seriously know how to dance.Does it make sense to say i like dancing but i don’t know how

Smelling: of coconut and Shea butter thanks to Mosara Kenya!

Wearing: a Dirac around the house.Dirac’s are those long loose cotton dresses worn by most Islam women often in bright colors. I love them. They are free and comfortable. And i might be wearing them all through the week.

Following: this amazing photographer on Instagram. His work is out of this world.I am in awe.

Noticing:that the year is going by so fast and i am scared i haven’t accomplished all that i set out for myself.

Knowing:that i need to work on my spiritual life.Lately I have drifted away away from prayer and spiritual things.

Thinking: always thinking too much about everything. Sort of in a maze, trying to find a way out and inner peace.

Feeling:nervous but hopeful  about the outcome of the elections.Praying for peace and tranquility during this period.

Admiring: this lady Betty Kyalo. Speaking of her, have you read her story on the current issue of True Love Magazine. Make sure you grab a copy.

Getting:ready to leave the house.

Bookmarking: marvelous articles that I bump into as I never finish reading them in one go.

Opening:the microwave to warm up a piece of hot dog that i saved up from yesterday’s dinner.

Giggling:at nothing.

In this moment and time the only thing that matters as we so think is the elections. We are getting close to the elections and already bizarre things are happening. We are all holding our breaths praying that we shall not descend into mass violence again. Let’s all gather together and make a  collective effort to prevent clashes. Only then can we become agents for positive change in the world.

As we go to the polls let’s remember the remarkable progress we have made over the years. Let’s remain optimistic and encourage each other. Achieving peace requires the commitment of all Kenyans. From politicians to citizens.

Let us not shatter the hopes and dreams that we have for ourselves, our children and our country.

I believe in my country. I believe in Kenya. I am proud to be Kenyan.

United We Stand, Divided We Fall.

Top of the morning to you my pumpkins!

The taking stock post is way overdue-the site was undergoing maintenance -but it’s very important that we accomplish that which we began so, here’s a  little bit about where I’m at:

Making: a conscious effort to continually keep in touch with family and friends. Quite frankly I have detached myself severally but that’s definitely going to change.

Drinking: Fruit infused water right this moment.

(Still) Reading: the monk who sold his Ferrari by Robin Sharma.Shame on me!Honestly though I’ve been stuck in a bit of a reading rut. Those people who can genuinely maintain the reading magic without facing slumps have my admiration.

Wanting: success like never before.

Looking: for this

Marble Adhesive Film.I desperately need to use it in making a marble table  top for my flat lays.Anyone who knows where I can find them?

Playing: and enjoying all the covers of the Despacito song.Btw have you listened to the song yet?Let me be nice and share it with you here. The meru version is actually trending on you tube!!It’s at number 18 !!!Guys you need to watch it before you even proceed!!

Now that you have, let’s move ahead.

Wasting: time scrolling through social media since my laptop has refused to cooperate.

Sewing: uh….Still hopeful that at some point ì will.

Wishing: that my laptop could stop throwing tantrums and behave.aaaaaargh!!

Enjoying: the bonding moments wth my momma. This woman completes my world. That reminds me,have you watched the video of this boy/man  who gets to see his mum  and brother after ten years.Guys..wait!!.one ..two..three…ten freaking years!!The reaction is priceless.I wish i could share it but i cant seem to fnd it.bummer!

Waiting: for my book club meeting tomorrow evening. My friends and i recently started a book club called Friends and books.Basically to encouarge and motivate one other and of course to get one to read more books.

Liking: my new jeans and sandals that I got from Mr. Price for KES 500! I can’t wait to rock them.Thank God for friends who alert you when such cool deals take place.

Wondering: what the hype is all about with Game of throne series.

Loving: the person that I have become.I am at a place where success and happiness are my priority.

Considering: watching Game of thrones.I am always the curious type and it’s proper that i cure my curiosity.

Hoping: that I will not become a GoT convert!!Lol!

Marveling: at some fun new stuff that i recently  got. Can’t wait to share them with you on the blog.

Needing: to inject more energy into achieving my goals for 2017 compiled here.

Smelling: nail polish which I confused to be paint at first. Does anybody else get irked by the smell of nail polish and paint too? Any ideas on how one can get rid of these strong smells out here?

Wearing: and improving on my make-up skills. I am not perfect but overall I am enjoying the whole process.

Following: and catching up on several you tube videos that i missed.

Noticing: that I have carried the same handbag for over a month now!I try to change my  bags as often as possible but this time round it’s a  task too hard to perform.

Knowing: too well that i need to declutter my office desk but still ignoring that fact.

Thinking: way too much about everything.I need to take it slow.

Feeling: excited because my friend remembered to bring me some book marks that i had liked. It’s the little things guys! The little things that matter!

Admiring:  Nancie mwai’s room here from a distance. Her room is major goals.
